This workshop will be offered twice, with 2 dates to choose from:
Saturday October 24th, 10am to 1pm + time to connect after class
Saturday November 7th, 10am to 1pm + time to connect after class
Location: Private residence in Ridgetop, TN (just north of Goodlettsville). Address will be sent to those who register. Workshop will take place mostly outdoors, weather permitting. We do have cats and a dog who will be inside, FYI.
Ready to move beyond the folk method? This hands-on workshop is designed for herbalists who are ready to deepen their understanding of tincture making through guided practice—not just lecture.
Together we'll briefly review the foundations of tincture making before diving into ratio methods, calculating alcohol percentages, selecting the appropriate menstruum for different herbs, and understanding the "why" behind each decision. We'll also explore the percolation method and build our own percolators while discussing equipment, herb preparation, packing, and troubleshooting.
This is a true working workshop. Participants will bring their own herbs, equipment, and supplies and will prepare tinctures alongside me, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, troubleshoot, and gain confidence through hands-on experience.
Following the workshop, you're invited to stay for an informal bring-your-own lunch social hour. We'll enjoy time together, continue the conversation, and, for anyone interested, hold a community swap. Bring a basket of extra dried herbs, fresh plant starts, seeds, tinctures, herbal products, books, jars, or other herbal treasures you'd be happy to share. The idea is simple: offer what you have in abundance, browse what others have brought, and head home with a basket full of new herbal goodies and a few new friendships.
Recommended for: Herbalists who already understand the basics of tincture making or have completed an introductory tincture class.
A detailed materials list will be provided upon registration. All participants will be expected to bring relevant class supplies, or be prepared to purchase kits on site. Basics include: jars, kitchen scales, coffee or spice grinders, measuring vessels, etc.
Note: If the cost prevents you from registering, I’m open to considering barters if they are the right fit. Please contact me to arrange this.
